  1. Our Get Active August challenge saw 200 of you taking part in support of 'Children with Cancer UK'

Today we received the following email.

We are delighted to be in receipt of your kind donation of £103 towards Children with Cancer UK. The support of The School Run means a great deal to us all and please be assured this valued gift will be put to very good use in our fight to save young lives.

Around 4,000 children and teenagers are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. That’s around ten every day. Survival from childhood cancer has improved enormously over the past few decades but cancer is still the most common cause of death in children aged 1 to 14 yearsWith support such as yours we will find new ways of treating cancer in order to offer new hope to all children suffering from cancer.

No one is more grateful to you than the parents of the children who have survived cancer, on their behalf and from us all at the charity please accept our renewed and heartfelt thanks for your generosity.

Well done everyone and thank you for entering!

  2. Hello everyone!

Our very first update and what a six weeks it has been since our launch! We were pleased to have 52 runners in our 'Back to School Race' and the first batch of medals were sent out last week. It was great to see them pop up on our Facebook page over the weekend. The September run supported CLIC Sargent and we will be transferring £93.60 across this week!

Our October and November races are already on the site and we have had a steady flow of runners entering already. What's more, we have had many requests from schools to organise events for them. The events and medals are very much aimed at children and we are pleased to see that schools are embracing our runs and events.

It's Sunday night and it's back to the day job tomorrow with being a Deputy Head of a large Junior School. Life is never dull but that's what makes it fun.

Happy running until the next update and thank you very much for your support of our short but exciting journey so far.
